Alex Griffin Meeks, Esq.
As both a mother and an attorney, I’m passionate about helping kids and families thrive. For the first decade or so of my law career I represented children at one of the busiest and best child advocacy providers in the country - the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, NY. I represented kids in all types of family law matters - kids who had lost their parents and required guardianship, kids who were caught in the middle of a custody battle, kids who were getting adopted. From this experience, I bring a family-focused attitude to every matter. Whether crafting the guardianship provisions in a will or hammering out the nitty-gritty details of a custody agreement, I strive to help busy families create solid plans that put family first and keep them out of court.

I embrace the busy parent lifestyle in Columbia, Maryland, where I live with my husband, three children, two cats and a dog. I am admitted to practice in Maryland and New York.
Three Things You Might Not Know About Me:

I love puzzles. Nothing is more fun than using logic to tease out the answer to a problem. I especially love when the answer involves a good pun. Most mornings I wake up early and complete the NYTimes crossword before anyone else is awake. If I don't have time for that, I’ve been known to do the Wordle.

I have local roots. I’m a proud graduate of Wilde Lake High School (1997) and UMCP (2002). I moved my family from Brooklyn, NY back to Maryland in 2019 because I think it’s such a great place to raise kids.

I love being outdoors. In the spring and fall, my back deck is my second office and during the summer I often work by our neighborhood pool. Fresh air and sunshine help me be my best self for my clients.

Chances are if you see me on a video chat from my home office, you’ll catch one of my officemates on screen. The white cats, Popcorn and Cheddar Cheese, are brothers and Percy is a Great Pyrenees mix.
